Without doubt, I am now able to feel what makes his acting autonomous, the interesting part expressed there, without betraying the form inherited from the tradition. His acting indeed maintains this gained experience, while opening the way to the unexpected to come. Thereby and obviously, the nô must be perpetuated as a living theatrical form and not remain a museum of gestures. In this way, the nô expresses its here and its now, without distorting its origin. Without departing from the ways, he opens new ones. Thus passed on from father to son, it assures its future.
What if we replaced the word Nô by the word Graham?

Sans doute, maintenant suis-je à même de sentir ce qui fait l’autonomie de son jeu, la part intéressante qui y est exprimée, sans que son jeu trahisse la forme héritée de la tradition. Son jeu en effet maintient cet acquis, tout en lui ouvrant la voie vers l’inattendu à venir. Par là même et à l’évidence, le nô doit se perpétuer comme une forme théâtrale vivante et non demeurer un musée de gestes. Par là même, le nô exprime son ici et son maintenant, sans dénaturer son origine. Sans s’écarter des voies, il en ouvre de nouvelles. Ainsi transmis de père en fils, il assure son devenir.
